The LeadHER program serves as more than just a stepping stone in a career—it marks the beginning of a lifelong journey within a vibrant community of leaders and philanthropists. LeadHER alumnae benefit from the program's rich resources while also contributing to a legacy of leadership and impact. This journey with LeadHER extends beyond graduation, as alumnae become part of a network dedicated to empowering women leaders and fostering a supportive global community.
Students apply for this program in the spring quarter. The program is a 10-week course in the fall quarter and students receive 2 units pass/no pass.
This course provides an overview of research and practice related to leadership with emphasis on the skills required to succeed in one’s future profession. Topics covered include: (1) the role of career exploration, (2) interests, passion, and career pathways, social networks, (3) identity and dream building, (4) developing soft skills – networking, clear communication, effective team building, and (5) putting theory into practice through internships and field placements. In short, this class is about building one’s professional dreams and leadership skills. Students often have many dreams and tremendous motivation and potential. Mentoring and guidance are key elements to help students shape their dreams and reach their goals. In this class and the collective experience through the mentoring program, we provide a set of useful tools, teachings, narratives, experiences, and insights related to leadership and career development to best prepare our students for their post baccalaureate placements.
